"In my experience, exercise is one of the best things you can do for your mental health. I myself have struggled with periods of bad mental health of the years and continue to do so periodically.
If it were not for a continuous and regular dose of resistance training, my mental health would suffer. I know this from personal experience and have always felt worse when I've not been exercising.
For me, it is about more than just releasing endorphins. It is about establishing a routine and discipline. It takes discipline to show up to the gym and workout consistently. It's taken a few years of persistence but I am now at a point where the gym is a part of my weekly routine and I treat it like I would a meeting at work.
It can be tough to know where to start with exercise and what sort of workout you do. My advice would be to find something you enjoy doing and never be afraid to try something different! If you enjoy something, you are more likely to stick to it!"
