Hannah’s Story
I am 19 years old and currently a student at Easton college. I am in my last year studying sport, where I am hoping to go to uni next year. At the start of the season I signed for Norwich City Women’s.
I currently struggle with my mental health being diagnosed with depression and anxiety over the summer even though I had been struggling for years. It has always been an issue for me to speak out to people and get the help I need. Every day is different one day I can have a good day where everything is okay and then the next can be the worst where I will do anything to hide away.
Sport has helped me a lot as it gives me a break from everyday life, a chance to stay active and let some of my emotions out whilst playing and also the social aspect of it. Being able to make new friends which has also always been a struggle too. Some of the people I have met through sport have helped me so much with everything especially my coaches at Norwich, so if you are struggling I would also speak to anyone you feel like you trust.
I would say to people who are struggling to take part in regular exercise as it’s just a break from everything and can really help clear your mind.
This is a big thing for me to be able to speak out openly about everything which I have never done.
